THE COPPER KETTLE GUEST ACCOMMODATION ACCESS REPORT

Introduction

Our home is set in the most southerly port in England. The house was originally the shop and home of the village butcher for nearly 100 years. We aim to meet the needs
Of all visitors in our home based 3 bedroom and annexe bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

    Pre-Arrival:
  1. There is a bus stop on the harbour head ( 70 metres away) and a frequent bus service. Time tables are available.
  2. The National Express Coach drops and picks up on the harbour head. We will meet you to carry your bags up to our house.
  3. The main train stations of Penzance and Camborne are only 15 miles away. Buses and taxis are available. The main bus station and train station are located together at Penzance.
  4. Newquay airport is an hours journey away from us by car. If travelling to us by bus or train from the airport it will take approx 3 hrs and several changes.
  5. We have cats on the premises and regret that we cannot accommodate dogs. The cats live on our side of the house only but are allowed in the courtyard garden.
  6. ASSISTANCE DOGS are allowed in the ground floor annexe rooms ONLY.
  7. The port has a Cost Cutters supermarket, a Chemist, several bakers and a fish shop selling local caught fish. There are 3 Pubs and several Restaurants, two fish and chip shops ,a Chinese restaurant/takeaway and a pizzeria. The Post Office is two doors away and the launderette next door. There are 3 Churches, however the nearest Roman Catholic church is in Helston 3 miles away.
  8. Menus can be provided in large print if required. We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille. Our website www.cornishcopperkettle.com provides pictures of our accommodation and further information about the services we provide.

    Arrival and Car Parking:
  1. Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
  2. To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 3.00 pm. Earlier arrival may, however , be possible by arrangement. Late arrival up to midnight is fine , however, we ask that you advise us if you intend to arrive after 10.00 pm.
  3. There is one parking bay for each room. The bays are marked and signed in our private road next to the house. Parking is on a level road and lit with security lights.
  4. We offer assistance with luggage.

    Main Entrance & Reception
  1. There are 2 steps of 20 cm (8’’) up to the porch 170 cm (5’ 7’’) wide x 104 cm(3’7’’) length. Hand rails are on both sides of steps.
  2. The front door is always locked but we do have a push bell to the right of the door which can be reached from any height. After registration each guest is given a key to the front door and their room. Guests may have access to their rooms at all times.
  3. The front door is 85cm (2’9’’)wide.
  4. On entry into our home there is a L shaped hallway 68cm(5’6’’) wide x 163cm(13’7’’)Length. There is a seat provided in the hallway.
  5. The floor is the original quarry tiles polished with non slip polish.

    Public Area
  1. To the left of the front door is the entrance to the dining room. The folding doors are 75cm(2’5’’) wide.
  2. The dining room has 3 tables each seating four people. Table height 76cm(2’6’’) and chair seating height 47cm(18.5’’).
  3. The dining room is carpeted and has an electric fire and adjustable central heating.
  4. The dining room has a comfortable sofa and radio/CD player. Guests may use the dining room/lounge area throughout the day and breakfast is served in this room.

    Upstairs to the Bedrooms and Private Shower Rooms
  1. There are 12 stairs to a landing followed by a further 4 stairs to the first floor.
  2. The stairs are 17cm(6.5’’) high, 28cm(11’’) deep, 84cm(2’9’’) wide. There is a left handed banister rail.
  3. At the top of the stairs to the right is a small entrance to the private shower rooms. The doors are 72cm(2’4.5’’) wide. Each shower room is fully tiled with carpet flooring and adjustable towel rail radiators.
  4. Each shower room has a walk in shower with a step up into the cubicle of 18cm(7’’).The cubicle is 75cm (2’6’’) x 75cm (2’6’’) square. The hand basin is 78cm(2’7’’) high with easy grip taps. The toilet seat height is 42cm(16.5’’) high.
  5. Leading off of the first floor landing are the three guest bedrooms. All bedrooms have a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables, full length mirrors.
  6. Bedroom 1 with private shower room. Large double room with its own lounge area. The door width is 79cm((2’7’’) The room has a 138cm(4’6’’) bed with access of 110cm(3’7’’) on both sides. The bed sitting height is 61cm(2’). There is a leather sofa ,seat height 46cm(18’’) width 191cm(6’3’’) There is a floor space of 306cm(10’) x 183cm(6’) in front of the sofa in the lounge area. The facilities in all the bedrooms are fully described on our web site.
  7. Bedroom 2 with private shower room. The door width is 79cm(2’7’’). Twin bedded room with 2 chairs seat height 46cm(18’’). Two 92cm (3’) single beds with sitting height 61cm(2‘). There is access to both sides of both beds. Twin beds zip together to provide a super king double bed 183cm(6’) wide with sitting height of 46cm(18’’). There is access to both sides of the super king bed.
  8. Bedroom 3 with private shower room. The door width is 79cm(2’7’’). Single room with 1 chair seat height 46cm(18’’). One 92cm(3’) single bed with sitting height 61cm(2’) There is access to one side of the bed.

    Ground floor annexe en-suite rooms self contained ,breakfast taken in main dining room. The annexe rooms are reached by going through the dining room door 75cm(2’5’’) wide into the kitchen and out through the back door 85cm(2’9’’) wide into the courtyard garden. Walk just 366cm (12’)across the courtyard which is laid with level paving stone. The annexe has a double room and twin room/lounge, kitchenette and shower room.
  1. The Lounge/twin room with Kitchenette. Enter into the annexe through a stable door 72cm(28’’) wide into the open plan lounge/twin/kitchenette area. Kitchen sink 76cm(30’’)high, cupboard under sink, wall cupboard above and microwave on wall. Fridge 76cm(30’’)high x 55cm(22’’) wide. There is empty floor space of 220cm(7’3’’) x 173cm(5’8’’). One 92cm(3’) single bed with sitting height 61cm(2’)access to one side. One sofa/bed 191cm(6ft 3’’) length, 92cm(3’) wide with sitting height 46cm(18’’) access to one side. . Bedside tables, TV tables, 6 draw chest. TV.DVD and sky free view.
  2. The shower room. The small hall way to the shower room is 77cm(2’7’’) wide. There is an airing cupboard with storage and opposite is the door into the shower room 69cm(2’3’’) wide. The shower room has a walk in shower with a step into the cubicle of 10cm(4’’) high. The cubicle is 71cm(2’4’’) x 71cm(2’4’’). The wash hand basin is 76cm(2’6’’) high. The toilet seat height is 41cm(16’’) high.
  3. The double bedroom.The door into the bedroom is 69cm(27’’)wide. The annexe double bedroom has a wardrobe, 4 drawer chest x 2, dressing table. Full size mirror. A double bed 138cm(4’6’’) wide with seating height 56cm(22’’) high with access to both sides of the bed.
  4. TV with Sky free view. WI-FI access in both rooms. The annexe is warmed with electric heaters in all rooms.

    Additional information
  1. All bedrooms have adjustable central heating and are fully carpeted. The rooms have a contemporary feel and are tastefully decorated with carpets, rugs cushions ,bedding and furniture in colour co-ordinated creams, terracotta’s, russets and browns.
  2. All bedrooms have fridges, hair dryers and silent digital clocks and cooling fans.
  3. All bedrooms have fresh milk or Soya milk if requested provided each day.
  4. All the kettles are cordless for ease of use and mugs with easy grip handles are provided.
  5. All handles on the doors have been changed to pull down for ease of use.
  6. Each bedroom has a TV/DVD or VCR with SKY FREEVIEW. Every room has facilities for subtitles or audio description through the sky box.
  7. All rooms have WI-FI internet access . A password will be provided for your lap top to access this upon request.
  8. NO SMOKING at all except in the court yard garden. All rooms have smoke alarms and emergency escape ladders if stair exit is blocked. Full written and visual instructions are on the doors in rooms. Fire alarms will sound in every room if there is an emergency please advise us if you have a hearing impairment. There are fire extinguishers in four areas in the house with separate units in the annexe rooms.
  9. We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment i.e.:- oxygen canisters, portable dialysis machines. Please let us know if ordered and the name and telephone of hirers.
  10. All rooms have fridges suitable for medication.
  11. All the beds have mattresses with many springs and are medium/firm with a soft top.
  12. All bedding is 50% polyester/cotton. Our beds are made with duvets and pillows that are hypo allergic. Extra blankets or sheets are available if required.
  13. Each guest has a bath sheet, bath towel and hand towel made of 100% cotton.
  14. Soft, fluffy dressing gowns are provided for the rooms with private shower rooms.
  15. Mobile phone reception is generally good but in some of the surrounding areas there is no signal. A phone is available for emergencies at all times.

    Garden. We have a secluded courtyard garden which is a lovely sun trap in the afternoons and cool in the hot summer evenings. Guests often use the garden and it is the only place to smoke (ash tray provided). There is a gas barbeque available for guests to use.

    Plans for the future
  1. We refurbished in Oct/Nov 2007. All new beds, bedding, furniture. Painted and decorated the whole house. Installed Sky Free view and WI-FI internet access.
  2. Early 2008 (weather permitting) we are painting the outside of the house and refurbishing the car parking area. Replenishing hanging baskets and tubs outside.
